Crypto gaming company Gala Games has announced a hackathon at the 2024 Game Developers Conference (GDC), in partnership with gaming PC giant Alienware and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Featuring a prize pool of $1 million, the 24-hour hackathon welcomes participation from both in-person and online attendees of GDC. Participants will be tasked with utilising Gala’s GalaChain SDK to create projects, leveraging the layer-1 blockchain infrastructure that supports games such as Spider Tanks, Legacy, and Eternal Paradox.
“Gala is excited to join forces with Amazon Web Services and Alienware to bring the GalaChain Hackathon to GDC,” said Gala Games President of Blockchain, Jason Brink. “We can’t wait to see what the attendees build as they compete for their portion of the $1 million prize pool.”
Hackathon participants will have access to GalaChain’s technology, which enables cutting-edge game features like the upgradeable NFTs featured in the mobile RPG Champions Arena.
In addition to gaming applications, GalaChain, known for its rapid block time of under two seconds and a network of over 30,000 nodes, also serves as the backbone for projects like the decentralised exchange GalaSwap and the social network Rep.
