The integration of Chingari with the Aptos blockchain has led to a surge in activity. According to on-chain data, there has been a remarkable 900% increase in new users over the previous month, with nearly 90,000 users joining the platform on-chain daily.
Chingari made the move to Aptos on July 6, aiming to provide its users with an enhanced experience following network outages on the Solana platform in 2022. These outages led to challenges, forcing the platform to schedule transactions rather than process them instantly to reduce the risk of failed transactions, as explained by Sumit Ghosh, the co-founder and CEO of Chingari.
The integration with Aptos has now enabled instant on-chain features, including virtual gifts, which have attracted many new users in recent weeks. Chingari introduced a new wallet that allows users to earn tokens through engagement and content creation. These earned tokens can tip creators, boost content visibility, and purchase virtual gifts and nonfungible tokens.
The growth of Chingari is also fueled by India’s large economy, with a population of 1.4 billion people, and the increasing popularity of cryptocurrencies in the country. According to Chainalysis, India leads the South Asian region in crypto adoption.
As of July 14, Chingari accounted for a substantial portion of the Aptos blockchain’s daily active users (80%) and gas fees paid on the network (50%), representing a growth of over 500% from the previous month. The daily transactions also surged by 150%, reaching nearly 2 million.
If this growth continues, Chingari is on track to surpass the lifetime total of StepN, the second-largest decentralised application (DApp) on the Solana network. The CEO, Ghosh, estimates that Chingari will have reached 1.25 million users by the end of July, which is 10 times faster than Solana. He also anticipates over 20 million on-chain users and a cumulative total of more than 200,000 APT paid as gas fees by the end of the first year.
The trend of DApps seeking improved on-chain performance and usability across various networks is not unique to Aptos. Game publisher Mythical Games recently made a similar move, transitioning from Ethereum to the Polkadot ecosystem due to Ethereum’s slow transaction speeds and high transaction costs.
