Ledger Live has partnered with THORChain, a decentralised finance (DeFi) protocol, to introduce native cross-chain swaps on its platform, enabling users to exchange assets between different blockchains directly within the app. The announcement was made on October 22 via X, revealing that the new feature allows for seamless swaps, such as converting Bitcoin to Ether.
This is the first time Ledger has integrated a DeFi protocol to facilitate direct cross-chain swaps within its Ledger Live app. THORChain is known for enabling asset swaps across various blockchain ecosystems without relying on wrapped tokens.
In a blog post, Ledger detailed that users can access the new swap feature by navigating to the “discover” page in the Ledger Live app. Additionally, there is speculation that THORChain might integrate with Binance’s Web3 wallet, a self-custody wallet within the Binance platform. While the integration hasn’t been confirmed, THORChain founder John-Paul Thorbjornsen hinted at more developments to come.
This partnership follows a recent collaboration between THORChain and the decentralised finance network “Rujira Alliance,” which was formed after Kujira merged with three major ecosystem projects. Thorbjornsen had previously described the new alliance as a significant DeFi initiative, with the potential to challenge platforms like Solana in terms of utility and trading volume.
