As the Cardano (ADA) ecosystem continues to expand, its team has diligently updated its observers every step of the way, detailing each week’s changes towards achieving the network’s roadmap.
There have been significant upgrades to the Vasil hardfork, targeted for June 2022 and expected to significantly boost the protocol’s transaction throughput and its volume and liquidity.
According to the team’s recent report on April 29, the month’s end saw the node and consensus teams’ preparation for the imminent hardfork by prepping the Ouroboros protocol — the current consensus mechanism on the Cardano blockchain.
In addition, the teams have kept working on the performance features of UTXO HD (which defines how the Cardano blockchain is stored) and testing and evaluating diffusion pipelining. The network had its block size increased by 10% to improve its performance.
Cardano teams work hard in every area.
Cardano’s Daedalus 4.9.0 wallet launched in early March has been worked on. Its developers have tested and integrated the latest Cardano-node v.1.34.1 and repaired and tested several Windows-related bugs with Ledger hardware wallets.
According to Tim Harrison, the Vice President of Community & Ecosystem of Input-Output, Cardano will host two events in late May and early June — one in Barcelona and one in Austin, Texas.
According to Harrison, the Barcelona event will be on auditing and certification, whereas the Austin one will highlight Plutus, a Cardano-based smart contract platform, and Marlowe, a language designed for writing and executing Cardano-based financial contracts.
We’re hosting two #Cardano developer events between end of May and mid June, in Barcelona (focus on audit and certification) and Austin, Tx (focus on Plutus plus some Marlowe) respectively. If you are #buildingonCardano and want to get involved, @benohanlon is your man 👍

Both of these have had upgrades, including bug fixes and incremental documentation updates for Plutus and executing the first Marlowe contract on mainnet and adding additional features.
It’s also worth mentioning that the number of Plutus Scripts increased significantly in late March, surpassing the 2,000 mark. These smart contracts were introduced to the blockchain in September 2021 as part of the prior hardfork event.
Meanwhile, according to CoinMarketCap statistics, the price of Cardano’s digital currency, ADA, remained at $0.863 at press time, up 5.10% in the last 24 hours and 2.21% over the previous seven days.
