Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk has reiterated his promise to eat a McDonald’s Happy Meal live on TV if the fast food restaurant embraces the meme dogecoin (DOGE). When Musk first made the offer a year ago, McDonald’s made a counteroffer in response.
Elon Musk has reiterated his intention to consume a McDonald’s Happy Meal on television if the fast food chain begins accepting dogecoin (DOGE) as payment.
On January 25, 2022, the millionaire tweeted his offer, though McDonald’s turned down his proposal then. The fast food company’s Twitter handle replied, “Only if Tesla accepts grimacecoin”. In commercials for McDonaldland, the fluffy, purple figure Grimace travels alongside Ronald McDonald.
When Twitter user Dogedesigner questioned Musk on Thursday about his offer being open, this week’s topic came up again. The Tesla CEO expressed his commitment to his promise by responding with the emoji 100.
Grimacecoin (GRIMACE), a cryptocurrency token that has nothing to do with either McDonald’s or Musk, was introduced in the wake of the exchange between the McDonald’s Twitter account and Musk in January of last year. The price of each grimacecoin is $0.5879 at the time of writing.
Musk, referred to as the Dogefather in the meme crypto community, has long supported dogecoin. Tesla’s electric vehicle business already accepts DOGE for some products, and Musk has stated that SpaceX would do the same. Additionally, some rides at his Boring Company accept DOGE payments.
The billionaire previously disclosed that he personally owned dogecoin, ether, and bitcoin. In June of last year, he declared that he would continue to promote and purchase DOGE, and stated in November that “Dogecoin to the Moon” after confirming that Tesla had not sold any DOGE.
