Adobe has announced a new feature called Content Credentials that will provide Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) creators with verification tools. The feature will allow NFT creators to include metadata in their work. This will allow for content verification and help avoid fraud.
Through the feature, content creators will be able to include crypto addresses in their metadata. Thereafter, the NFT buyer will see to it that the minting address is the same as the one that created the token. Different addresses should be an indication of plagiarized work.
The new Adobe feature is part of the world’s popular software initiative called Content Authority Initiative (CAI). The program has been a success so far, having attracted partnerships with some of the world’s biggest brands like BBC, Nikon, New York Times, Microsoft and over 400 other partners.
The Content Credentials is still being developed and will be available in many of Adobe’s applications. It will come with a feature called “prepare as NFT”.
The new platform will be launched as a beta option for use by millions of active Adobe users. With time workflow and features on the platform will be clearer as it would allow content ownership for increased transparency among viewers.
Related content Credentials features will be available on the Adobe photo hosting platform Stock and its social media platform Behance. At the same time, various NFT markets like Rarible, SuperRare, OpenSea and KnownOrigin have also partnered with Adobe to display credentials on the platforms.
Why does it matter?
So far the NFTs world has been exploding. Even though some of the people believed it was a mere bubble that would burst, it has instead been growing in development and applications. The NFTs are now taking over the traditional art world, online gaming, among other uses.
While the NFTs have been expanding, the security concerns remain rife. The digital world allows access to various digital items which can then be downloaded then resold even with someone other than the original creator.
Adobe is responding to the need for content identification. Artists do feel that when they mint their art on Adobe Software, other people can also mint the same and pass it off as their original work. Adobe is looking to ensure the various digital organisations and products are working together for a safer and more trustworthy online experience. The content credentials will work to secure the creator’s work while also helping the consumers to make informed purchasing decisions.
What’s ahead
Adobe approves of the NFTs. The group executive Scott Belsky, speaking in a Verge Interview, confirmed how much NFTs are empowering and better-aligned systems for creativity. With this, it shows that Adobe will be working on more features to ensure the success of the NFTs markets and the digital world as a whole.
Even though it has started with digital images, the project will move to the other parts of the Adobe Creative Suite and with time test out various new digital media formats.
Other than Adobe, several other companies have also embraced the NFTs. These include Twitter, TikTok, TIME Magazine, Visa and many more, which have all launched various NFT projects in recent months.
